Gravity Water offers Internship Programs for students and individuals who wish to combine their studies in Global Studies, Environmental Science, Education, and Business Management (plus many others), with real-life experience. Available Internship opportunities will provide leadership on non-profit management and development, community-based conservation, water quality and science, and environmental education, which many students can use for course credits.

Director of Communications

Application Deadline: June 15th, 2019

Position: Part-time, Unpaid

Timeframe: Six Months

Location: Santa Cruz, California

Description

Gravity Water, a US-based 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization, focuses on providing clean drinking water to communities in developing countries by combining rainwater harvesting, elevated storage, and gravity-fed filtration, is seeking a Director of Communications Intern to assist the Gravity Water Management Team in managing physical communications and carrying out the Organization’s membership engagement protocols. The Director of Communications position holds an important role in the Organization, serving as the bridge that connects Gravity Water’s work, projects, engagement, and impact with its supporting members.  The Director of Communications intern will be part of a supportive and professional team of passionate individuals dedicated to making clean drinking water accessible by the communities who need it most.

Responsibilities

Essential job responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the fulfillment of Gravity Water’s Membership Engagement Protocols
  • Design and develop monthly newsletters
  • Manage communications via physical mail and the organizational email account
  • Fulfill all team requirements as a member of the Gravity Water Management Team

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Passion and inspiration for providing clean drinking water to communities in developing countries
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Professional communication
  • High organization and multi-tasking capacity
  • Experience using Google Suite and Social Media platforms  
  • Time commitment: 5 hours per week (minimum)

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in Mailchimp, communications, business engagement, and marketing.

Gravity Water University Program Coordinator

Description

Gravity Water, a US-based 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization which focuses on providing clean drinking water to communities in developing countries by combining rainwater harvesting, elevated storage, and gravity-fed filtration, is seeking a third-year (Junior) student to fill the University Program Coordinator position. The University Program Coordinator position is responsible for engaging their school’s student body by creating platforms for educational outreach, school-based fundraising campaigns, and collaborative events with student body chapters, clubs, programs, and sororities/fraternities.

This position will serve as the primary channel through which Gravity Water works with and maintains a relationship within the University and provides a great opportunity for student leadership, program development, and education and outreach regarding the Global Water Crisis and student involvement in creating sustainable solutions.

Responsibilities

Essential job responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Student engagement through monthly tabling events, class presentations, and special events
  • Host quarterly membership drives through collaborative campaign developments with student body chapters, clubs, programs, fraternities/sororities, and/or third parties
  • Strategic planning and weekly assessment meetings with Gravity Water’s Special Events Coordinator

  • Experience in project management, coordination, planning, and communications
  • An academic focus in education, business management, environmental studies, global studies, or related field
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Time commitment: 5 hours per week (minimum)

  • Experience with G-Suite
  • Campaign/Program Development
  • Logistical and strategic planning and multi-level project coordination
  • Leadership experience, including ASB, Interact Club, or related programs

Gravity Water Youth Initiative Coordinator

Description

Gravity Water, a US-based 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization which focuses on providing clean drinking water to communities in developing countries by combining rainwater harvesting, elevated storage, and gravity-fed filtration, is seeking a second-year (Sophomore) student to fill the Gravity Water Youth Initiative (GWYI) Coordinator position. The GWYI Coordinator will assist the Gravity Water Management Team in developing and growing the GWYI within their region, through collaborating with local schools to grow the Organization’s GWYI program and providing youth with the guidance to carry out educational fundraisers within their school and community.

The Gravity Water Youth Initiative empowers young leaders worldwide to become active players resolving the World Water Crisis and fosters inclusivity, global citizenship and equitable access to education opportunities.

Responsibilities

Essential job responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Engaging local schools in the GWYI program, securing active campaigns in four or more schools.
  • Assist schools in planning and implementing educational fundraisers focused on raising awareness about the Global Water Crisis and Gravity Water’s approach, to fund clean water systems for schools in developing countries.
  • Work closely with the Director of Youth Engagement to fulfill management protocols, including weekly assessment meetings, strategic project planning, and GWYI campaign logistics.

Community Engagement Coordinator

Gravity Water, a US-based 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization which focuses on providing clean drinking water to communities in developing countries by combining rainwater harvesting, elevated storage, and gravity-fed filtration, is seeking a fourth-year (Senior) student to fill the Gravity Water Community Engagement Coordinator position. The Community Engagement Coordinator will assist the Gravity Water Management Team in developing and growing Gravity Water’s public events and local business partnerships.

The Community Engagement Coordinator will gain direct experience in special event planning, business relations and collaborative partnerships, as well as campaign logistics and strategic planning. In addition, this position will provide leadership experience in gaining, coordinating, and managing a comprehensive management team for the annual World Water Day event in their region. The Community Engagement Coordinator will be working closely with the Director of Special Events and the Director of Public Engagement and Outreach throughout their internship period.

Responsibilities

Essential job responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Plan, coordinate, and host one public engagement event per Quarter
  • Plan, coordinate, and host an Annual World Water Day Event
  • Plan, coordinate, and host monthly membership drives through collaboration with local businesses
  • Volunteer team management and coordination
  • Weekly assessment meetings with the Director of Special Events and/or the Director of Public Engagement and Outreach

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in project management, coordination, and planning
  • An academic focus in business management, education, environmental studies, global studies, or related field
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
