Gravity Water offers Internship Programs for students and individuals who wish to combine their studies in Global Studies, Environmental Science, Education, and Business Management (plus many others), with real-life experience. Available Internship opportunities will provide leadership on non-profit management and development, community-based conservation, water quality and science, and environmental education, which many students can use for course credits.

National Director of Indonesia

Description

Gravity Water, a U.S.-based 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization, which focuses on providing clean drinking water to communities in developing countries by combining rainwater harvesting, elevated storage, and gravity-fed filtration, is seeking a National Director of Indonesia to assist the Gravity Water Management Team in developing it’s program services (projects) in Indonesia. The National Director of Indonesia position holds an important role in the Organization, serving as the bridge that connects Gravity Water’s work in Indonesia with the U.S.-based team and allows Gravity Water to scale locally and independently throughout the country.  The National Director of Indonesia will be part of a supportive and professional team of passionate individuals dedicated to making clean drinking water accessible by the communities who need it most. 

This position focuses on two primary objectives: Maintaining clear and consistent communication with the Executive Director of Gravity Water on past, present, and future projects and organizing and coordinating clean water projects at schools in need throughout Indonesia. Gravity Water encourages individuals who are passionate about the importance and benefit of clean water access in Indonesia and are inspired to use their communication, leadership, and project planning skill sets to make a real-world difference to apply for the position.

Responsibilities

Essential job responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Check-in with past project locations monthly, giving updates on system performance
  • Organize and coordinate any maintenance or services that are needed on past projects
  • Develop and grow a list of schools that are in need of clean water throughout Indonesia
  • Plan and coordinate materials and labor to complete Gravity Water system installations
  • Assist in growing the Organization’s funding opportunities within Indonesia

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Indonesian Citizen
  • Passion and inspiration for providing clean drinking water to communities in need
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher (business, communications, environmental degrees are recommended but not required) 
  • Leadership and organizational skills
  • Fluent English and strong communication skills
  • Can travel on occasion

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience using Google Drive, grant writing, photography, engineering, project planning and management

Gravity Water Youth Initiative Coordinator

Timeframe: 2019-2020 Academic Year

Locations: Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo County, California

Description

Gravity Water, a US-based 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization which focuses on providing clean drinking water to communities in developing countries by combining rainwater harvesting, elevated storage, and gravity-fed filtration, is seeking a second-year (Sophomore) student to fill the Gravity Water Youth Initiative (GWYI) Coordinator position. The GWYI Coordinator will assist the Gravity Water Management Team in developing and growing the GWYI within their region, through collaborating with local schools to grow the Organization’s GWYI program and providing youth with the guidance to carry out educational fundraisers within their school and community.

About the GWYI

The Gravity Water Youth Initiative empowers young leaders worldwide to become active players resolving the World Water Crisis and fosters inclusivity, global citizenship and equitable access to education opportunities.

Responsibilities

Essential job responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Engaging local schools in the GWYI program, securing active campaigns in four or more schools.
  • Assist schools in planning and implementing educational fundraisers focused on raising awareness about the Global Water Crisis and Gravity Water’s approach, to fund clean water systems for schools in developing countries.
  • Work closely with the Director of Youth Engagement to fulfill management protocols, including weekly assessment meetings, strategic project planning, and GWYI campaign logistics.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Passion about creating clean water access throughout the global community
  • Experience in project management, coordination, and planning
  • An academic focus in education, environmental studies, global studies, or related field
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Time commitment: 5 hours per week (minimum)

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with G-Suite
  • Youth Education and Mentorship
  • Leadership experience, including ASB, Interact Club, or related programs

Community Engagement Coordinator

Description

Gravity Water, a US-based 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization which focuses on providing clean drinking water to communities in developing countries by combining rainwater harvesting, elevated storage, and gravity-fed filtration, is seeking a fourth-year (Senior) student to fill the Gravity Water Community Engagement Coordinator position. The Community Engagement Coordinator will assist the Gravity Water Management Team in developing and growing Gravity Water’s public events and local business partnerships.

The Community Engagement Coordinator will gain direct experience in special event planning, business relations and collaborative partnerships, as well as campaign logistics and strategic planning. In addition, this position will provide leadership experience in gaining, coordinating, and managing a comprehensive management team for the annual World Water Day event in their region. The Community Engagement Coordinator will be working closely with the Director of Special Events and the Director of Public Engagement and Outreach throughout their internship period.

Responsibilities

Essential job responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Plan, coordinate, and host one public engagement event per Quarter
  • Plan, coordinate, and host an Annual World Water Day Event
  • Plan, coordinate, and host monthly membership drives through collaboration with local businesses
  • Volunteer team management and coordination
  • Weekly assessment meetings with the Director of Special Events and/or the Director of Public Engagement and Outreach
